D: »(Naziv za) enoglasen elektronski glasbeni instrument, ki ga je okrog leta 1930 razvil F. Trautwein. Njegov zvok temelji na parcialnih tonih, ki vsebujejo žagaste nihaje neonske cevi. Igramo ga na manualu s trakom, ki rabi kot potenciometer. Na travtoniju so možne različne vrste artikulacije, odvisno od jakosti pritiska na tipke. Za travtonij sta pisala P. Hindemith (Etude za tri travtonije, Concertino za travtonij) in R. Strauss (v Japonski festivalni glasbi je travtonij sestavni del orkestra). Od leta 1950 O.
