PROSTA ATONALITETA = SVOBODNA ATONALITETA

D: »(Naziv za) glasbo, ki se sklada brez tonalitetnih središč. To harmonsko stanje je skladatelj Arnold Schönberg dojemal kot prehodno obdobje med tonaliteto in strožjim sistemom dvanajsttonske tehnike skladanja.« (‹FR›, 32)

KM: Značilne so Schönbergove skladbe v p. a. Tri skladbe za klavir, op. 11 (1909), in monodrama Erwartung, op. 17 (1909).

KR: Pojem ima nanatančen pomen: 1) Dvanajsttonska tehnika je domnevno »ovirala« atonaliteto, čeprav je dobro znano, da vse dvanajsttonske skladbe niso atonalitetne, še zlasti ne v Bergovem opusu (gl. KÖNIG 1974).

2) Problematičen je pridevnik »prost«: tehnike, ki so v skladbah v p. a. zamenjale tonalitetno sistematičnost, so zelo stroge zaradi uporabe razvojnega variiranja, npr. še zlasti kot nadomestilo za ukinjene motivno-tematske procese (gl. atematizem).

3) O dvanajsttonski tehniki kot sistemu po D gl. KR – t. 2 sistema.

Pojem je torej površen, vendar do današnjega dne ni boljšega.

GL: atematizem, atonaliteta, ekspresionizem, emancipacija disonance, metatonaliteta, mikrotonaliteta, prototonaliteta, razvojno variiranje = (razvojna variacija).

PRIM: atonaliteta, atonikaliteta, atonikalitetnost, atonikalnost, bitonaliteta, multitonaliteta, nestalna tonaliteta, pantonaliteta, politonaliteta, progresivna tonaliteta, razširjena tonalnost, prosta tonaliteta, suspendirana tonaliteta, tonaliteta.
