ET: Lat. collectivus = zbran, od colligere = zbrati, zbirati, od cum = s i legere = nabirati (‹KLU›, 395, 390).

D: »(Naziv za) skladbo, ki nastaja s sodelovanjem več skladateljev. Začetki segajo v obdobje florentinske Camerate. Skladatelji sodelujejo tudi okrog Liszta in Rimski-Korsakovega. Kolektivne skladbe in F-A-E Sonate Dietricha, Schumanna in Brahmsa, potem Genesis N. Shilkreta z deleži Schönberga, Stravinskega, Milhauda, Tocha in drugih. Kolektivno skladanje je prakticiral tudi P. Schaeffer na svojih ‘Concert collectif’.« (‹EH›, 166)

KM: V GEHLHAAR 1970 se obširno opisuje delo na skladbi z naslovom Ensemble, na kateri je v Darmstadtu od 6. avgusta 1967 dva tedna delala skupina dvanajstih mladih skladateljev pod vodstvom K. Stockhausena. V CHION-REIBEL 1976: 60–62 piše o Schaefferjevem »kolektivnem koncertu«, ki je omenjen v D.
