KM: V ‹BASS›, I, 365, in v ‹RIC›, I, 275, je navedeno, da je pojem prvi začel uporabljati Milton Bucker in da se je uporaba razširila v modern jazz. V ‹RAN›, 98, najdemo pojem »block chords harmony«, ki nima nikakršne zveze s pomenom b. c. v D.

KR: Slovenski prevod pojma (kot »blokovski« akord ali akord v bloku) je treba uporabljati skrajno previdno, čeprav ni potrebno, ker je izvirnik povsem jasen tehnični pojem v jazzu. »Block« v b. c. tudi ni povezan z blokom kot delom oblike v skladbi, ki se razlikuje od sekcije.
