Gre za navadno valovito, pločevinasto desko za pranje perila. Izvajalec jo drži navpično na kolenih in z vrhom prstov (na katerih je včasih naprstnik) ali z manjšo palico struga po brazdah na njej.« (‹RL›, 1062)

KM: Ustreznice v NEM, FR in IT, ki odstopajo od ANG-izvirnika, so predlagane v ‹BR›, 28–29. Kolikor se je dalo opaziti v pregledani literaturi, se je izmed njih dokaj udomačil le NEM-izraz, čeprav je ANG-izraz pogostejši.
