Tradicionalna notna pisava ni vidna glasba, kot bi lahko naivno pomislili. V notah namreč ne vidimo glasbe, ampak obratno: iz njih moramo glasbo narediti slišno … Akcijska glasba, ki jo je John Cage predstavil leta 1950, je spodbudila vizualne čute … Sistematično se s temi novimi … glasbenimi slikovnimi elementi ukvarja M. Kagel, na (koncertnem) odru, na sceni in v filmu … Podobne težnje srečujemo v skladbah D. Schnebla, ki je na določen način pojem ustvaril (gl. SCHNEBEL 1972), G. Ligetija, L. Beria, S. Bussotija, F.
