ET: »Dixieland je geografski pojem (območja južno od Dixonove črte, vzpostavljene leta 1765), ki je v 19. stoletju postal ljudski naziv za južne države v Združenih državah Amerike, zato je bilo z njegovim prenosom na glasbo treba poudariti, da izhaja s tega območja.« (‹RL›, 236)

D: »Pojem za jazz, ki so ga igrali beli glasbeniki po vzoru šole New Orleans jazza, včasih tudi za New Orleans jazz v celoti, kot tudi za njegov revival v štiridesetih letih. Razlike med zgodnjim črnskim jazzom v New Orleansu in njegovim belim nasprotjem, ki so ga izvajale skupine, kot so Papa Jack Laine’s in druge, je zaradi neobstajanja posnetkov težko opredeliti. KM: V ‹LARE›, 465, se opozarja, da se na FR-govornem območju d. nanaša samo na zasedbe, v katerih so igrali belci, medtem ko k New Orleans jazz uvršča črnske zasedbe.

KR: Nazivi, različni od ANG-izvirnika, v NEM, FR in IT so predlagani v ‹BR›, 234–235. To so samo opisi, ne pa tudi ustreznice izvirnega pojma. Kot lahko vidimo v ‹L›, 149, je izvirni ANG-naziv v rabi najpogostejši.
